I decided to climb the O2 Arena to give something back to EBAT. 2014 was a tough year for me and my family and everybody at EBAT became family, dropping in to see us, texting to make sure we were OK, making sure Joseph and Georgia were fed and got to school and out of school activities okay. This was all at a difficult time when many of the EBAT family were mourning the passing of Bally herself.
I was dreading climbing the O2 Arena! I like extreme sports, having done the Whole Hog, Tough Mudder and Three Peaks Challenge, but heights aren't my thing at all. When Charlotte suggested we climb the O2, I said 'lets do it!'.
The O2 Arena is 52 meters high for weeks of the year, has 12 stations for each month of the year and is 365 feet wide for each day of year. The ascent of the O2 Arena is 28 degrees and the descent is 30 degrees. It felt like it was vertical both ways.
The ascent and descent, as well as 15 minutes up at the top took us just short of 90 minutes. It was very windy on the day, but the view was breathtaking and we could see The Shard one way and The Emirates Stadium the other way.
Thank you for everyone who sponsored me - we raised £135 for EBAT so far and the JustGiving page will stay open for a month.
