Ride For A Roof Challenge

On Friday 10th July two EBAT trustees, Ben Haining and Steve Harding left Ipswich on their bikes to begin an epic 350 mile journey that would see them visit three of the UK's most prolific tennis venues.   Route   The first day saw them cycle through Essex visiting Colchester, Maldon, Tiptree and Brentwood before taking on the rather daunting task of cycling through the centre of London at rush hour to make it to The Queens club. Queens   Day two, and the Ride For a Roof team left London bright and early and headed down to Eastbourne. The guys really got in to the swing of things despite the heat and made it to The Devonshire Park Lawn Tennis Club in great time. Eastbourne   "This is the court where I first saw Bally win just after I became her strength and conditioning coach, being out on court with my bike was an emotional moment for me" - Ben Haining, Ride For a Roof cyclist. The third and final day, eyes were tired, muscles were sore and bums were aching, but none of this deterred our cycling heroes, they left Eastbourne at 7.30am and began their final leg up to Wimbledon the home of British tennis, on no less than men's final day! The ride took them through the beautiful Ashdown Forrest before heading back in to London. The team made it to Wimbledon just in time to see Novak Djokovic beat Roger Federer in the final at around 4.30pm. Wimbledon We are so proud of Ben, Steve and the whole Ride For a Roof team, they have raised a fantastic amount of money for EBAT and Marie Curie Cancer Care. The 'bubble' roof is now much closer to becoming a reality and we continue to keep Bally's legacy alive.
